Making AI and Robotics Accessible to Underprivileged

Khet Kumar, Global UGrad alumnus 2015, is a seasoned professional in the field of Robotics and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) education. He has made it his mission to bring Robotics and AI education to underprivileged students around the country with a vision to create an audience of not just mere users of technology but creators of technology. With over half a decade of experience in implementing, designing, managing, and leading Robotics and STEAM curriculum in different public and private educational settings nationally and internationally, Mr. Kumar has gained a wealth of knowledge and expertise in this field. He is currently heading the Robotics and STEAM department at a well-known school network in Lahore, where he is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of the Robotics and STEAM curriculum and programs.  He has also been involved in the development of Robotics and STEAM education programs for students in other parts of the country as well.

In addition to his work as a curriculum developer, Mr. Kumar has also authored several books on Science, ICT, Robotics, and STEAM education, which have been published by international publishers. Recently he has published his own Computer science book series, Digital Horizon, specifically developed for primary and middle school students. These books are equipped with the latest tools and technologies, ensuring that students have access to the most up-to-date information.

Mr. Kumar is also the founder of two social enterprises, RedPi Club and Takhtee, which provide 21st-century learning skills to underprivileged students. In these social enterprises, he promotes Robotics and coding education to the least privileged school around the slums of Lahore and its surroundings.

His social enterprise work doesn’t just stop under the country’s border, as Mr. Kumar has collaborated with the international social enterprise ecosystem, Impulso in Mexico to promote Robotics and coding education for K-12 students. His dedication to promoting robotics education and providing opportunities to underprivileged students has not gone unnoticed. His efforts have been recognized by the government and industry, with several organizations supporting his work to expand the reach of robotics education in the country. He has presented his work at international conferences including the University of British Colombia, Vancouver, Prague Czech Republic, Hawaii International Forum, USA, and many more.

Mr. Khet Kumar is a pioneer in the field of Robotics education K12 in Pakistan. He is among the few first people to integrate Robotics as a subject in schools and his efforts have helped to bring new opportunities to privileged and underprivileged students around the country. His work is making a real difference in the lives of these students and is helping to pave the way for a brighter future for them and for the country as a whole.
