Khurram Gillani Becomes PUAN Country President

We are pleased to share that Syed Khurram Abbas Gillani (IVLP 2011) has been elected as PUAN Country for the term of two years. He is also the President of PUAN North Punjab chapter. Let’s hear from him what he has got to say to members of Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network!

“As PUAN Country President, I look forward to acting as a bridge between Pakistan and America for strengthening people-to-people ties for peace-building and economic development. My association with the community is not a new phenomenon as I am the spiritual leader of more than 200 thousand followers and being able to get the immense support of the well-educated alumni with critical faculties is a great achievement for me. Me and my forefathers have given our best to the community by promoting interfaith harmony, building narratives of peace & tolerance, providing free of cost education to the poor, extending support to the underprivileged, creating windows for career development, and giving shelter to the homeless. In addition to it, under my custodianship, I have been trying to pave ways for introducing avenues for character-building, dialogue, conflict-resolution, and poverty-alleviation across Pakistan. In the past also, being a follower of Sufi school of thought, I provided my volunteer services to the Christian community during the tragic Gojra incident, Punjab which occurred in 2011.

The PUAN equips clusters of talented people who carry great influence individually and publicly that can be channelized for the process of peace-building on a broader level. As the Country President, my vision and mission is to make Pakistan a peaceful and prosperous country. The PUAN alumni are fully trained to transform this dream into reality from personal to professional level and from micro to macro level by increasing the representation of Pakistan in the local and global arenas. Under my presidentship, I look forward to educationists, experts, professionals, scientists and artists within the PUAN circle and outside of it from governmental, non-governmental and humanitarian forums to work on collaborative grounds to utilize their expertise and experience to cultivate ideas of cultural harmony, steer up youth mobility, counter climate-changes, normalize gender equality, promote STEAM, break stereotypes, and engineer positive behavioral changes. Further, with the united efforts of the alumni, I aim to enhance chapter-to-chapter ties by bringing PUAN together as a team which will think and act beyond the bubble and give solutions to local and global issues for a brighter and better Pakistan”
