Jamshoro’s Sana Breaking Barriers by Excelling in Life

Throughout this #womenhistorymonth , we will celebrate the contributions of Pakistani women and girls, who are leading by example and inspiring us every day.

Our Alumni are breaking barriers and excelling in their fields. Meet Sana A. Khoja!

“I am Sana Khoja from Jamshoro, largely seen as little more than a small town by Urban Pakistan. Yet, it’s here that I organize the country’s largest music festival, with musicians and audiences from around the world, many of them visiting Jamshoro for the first time. I am co-founder of LAHOOTI, a non for profit best known for the Lahooti Music Festival.

Aiming to revive Pakistan’s traditional music and indigenous music instruments, LAHOOTI has recorded and featured over 200 musicians (including female musicians), many of which haven’t been on camera before. In the era of corporate-backed shows, I take great pride working with the artists who sing in different languages and represent various communities, traditions, and instruments native to this land but remain forgotten and ignored.
