Funding Under New ASG Cycle Opening Soon

The Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN) has announced the much-awaited Alumni Small Grant (ASG) program, offering funding opportunities of up to PKR 500,000 and PKR 1,000,000 for open and special themes, respectively. The program, which is jointly administered by the U.S. Mission and PUAN, aims to strengthen mutual understanding between the American and Pakistani people by encouraging alumni to put their exchange program learning into action to create meaningful change. The ASG program is open to alumni of U.S. Government-funded exchange programs.

Proposals for the grant will be accepted through an online process from May 1 to May 31, 2023. The maximum grant period is four months from the approval date, and funds for approved proposals will be disbursed in July 2023. Project activities should not be planned before August 2023 and must not go beyond November 2023.

The grant opportunities are divided into two categories: Special Themes and Open Themes. Special Themes for the current cycle include countering terrorism and reducing violent extremism, advancing regional stability, integration, and security, fostering inclusive economic growth and sustainable development, strengthening civilian democratic institutions and protecting human rights, and protecting the environment and mitigating climate change. Alumni whose project idea does not fall under any special theme can apply for the Open Theme category.

Interested alumni can apply for the grant through the PUAN Alumni Portal, but they must meet certain eligibility criteria, such as being a registered alumnus/alumna of the U.S. Government-funded exchange program and being 18 years or older.
