ASG Promotes Use of Visual Arts in Classrooms

Recipient of UNICEF’s Best Teacher’s Award-2013 and E-Teacher Program, Nazeer Ahmed is an artist turned teacher who has been striving to incorporate use of arts in classrooms by doing professional development of teachers. Under his Alumni Small Grant (ASG), Nazeer has provided a platform to learners to create mental images for enhancing language development by offering non-verbal methods for understanding and communication using visual arts intelligently. Over the course of four-weeks, Nazeer has trained 50 teachers and has indirectly reached out to over 2K beneficiaries.

The initiative aimed at exploring various mediums like drawing, collage, sculpture, mixed media, comic and sequential arts and then integrating them into while developing thematic lesson plans and creating visual arts projects.

Shah Muhammad, one of the recipients of the workshop shared that the workshop was productive from a learning point of view as he being trainee learned new approaches on to how to incorporatee arts into listening, speaking, reading, and writing in research-oriented way.

Good job, Nazeer for equipping young instructors with lifelong skills which are going to help their respective students in the longer run.
