Meet Muhammad Sameer, our alumnus for Special American Business Internship Training (SABIT) Program for the year 2014. The Special American Business Internship Training Program is the U.S. Department of Commerceโs award-winning global technical assistance program located in the International Trade Administration (ITA).
Belonging to a prominent Memon family, well known for its substantial contribution in trade and business in Pakistan, Sameer was always fond of becoming a successful businessman. Therefore, after completing education, he joined the family business of Import & Export in the Horticulture sector. He came to know about the SABIT Program and applied. Fortunately, he got selected and went to the US. Sameer learnt a lot from this program particularly about latest trends and techniques in packaging and defining new standards of this important aspect regarding export business of Fruits and vegetables. He also had the privilege of attending Pack Expo which is a biennially held trade fair for packaging technology. Pack Expo exhibitors showcase the latest developments in packaging machinery, converting machinery, materials, packages, containers, and components. The industriesยด top technicians and engineers are present to provide packaging solutions for all needs. โHaving seen the process of packaging in the exhibition โPack Expoโ in Chicago certainly enriched my knowledge manifolds in this specific area,โ says Sameer. He learnt many new things which he was completely unaware of before. He then used the knowledge and contacts gained in the United States to improve his family business, encourage industry collaboration, and increase exports. โI have applied some of the techniques of packaging in my family business,โ says Sameer.
According to Sameer, โThe training program was well organized, and contents were realistic and conducted in true professional manner and practical demonstration of packaging in the exhibition โPack Expoโ in Chicago was a marvelous experience.โ Currently, Sameer is working as a Head of Marketing and Exports in M/s F.A. International and has been instrumental in exploring numerous international markets in the Middle East, Far East, USA, Canada, and Europe, multiplying the export volume of his company manifolds.
Besides running his business, Sameer is also a very active supporter of youth development programs for community. We wish him all the best for his future endeavors.
