Wajahat Taking Music as Career to New Heights

Wajahat Shah Aalmi is a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist hailing from the mountains of Yasin Valley Ghizer district, Gilgit Baltistan. He is a graduate of musicology from the National College of Arts (NCA) Lahore and he has been part of the Nescafe Basement Season 5. as a multi-instrumentalist. He has launched his three official music videos with a fusion and experimental music.

Wajahat was fortunate enough to be part of the Virtual One Beat Music Residency program 2021 by the US State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs in collaboration with the ground-breaking New York based music organization ‘Found Sound Nation’. In the virtual One Beat program 77 musicians from across the globe came together on one platform to promote positivity, music, peace and diversity. This was a great opportunity in this situation of pandemic to convey the message of unity and peace to the world through different projects performed by these fellow artists.

Wajahat is a determined musician, performer and educator who aims to preserve and transform the traditional folk music of his area through his dream music school and residency program which is under construction right now in Hundur village of Yasin valley.You guys can find more about his work via:
