Meet Junaid Iqbal, a recent graduate of OPEN GOC fall 2022 and a passionate youth activist from University of Azad Jammu Kashmir (UAJK). He’s the driving force behind the Youth Centric Society-YCS, an organization committed to creating positive change through the power of young people.
Junaid’s impactful initiative, “Aaloodgi say Azadi,” takes place every year on August 14th. On this day, he and his team come together in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to contribute to the environment. Their mission is clear: combatting the greenhouse effect by planting trees that help cool the Earth. This initiative is their way of fighting pollution and fostering a healthier environment in AJK.
As the leader of YCS, Junaid leads by example in this project. Their tree planting isn’t just symbolic – it’s a genuine effort to make a difference. The nurturing of each tree serves as a reminder that taking care of our planet is vital. It’s a declaration of responsibility, a statement that they are guardians of Earth’s health.
The “Aaloodgi say Azadi” project is more than tree planting; it’s a unifying experience that underscores the collective responsibility for our planet. It’s a unique celebration of their country’s special day, dedicated to making AJK, Pakistan, and the world at large, a better and greener place.
Each tree they plant embodies a promise for tomorrow. These trees will provide shade, oxygen, and a greener landscape. They symbolize Junaid and YCS’s commitment to nurturing their homeland. The project’s annual recurrence creates a special and exciting time for all participants, fostering a continuous drive to make Pakistan a harmonious haven for both people and nature.
