PUAN General Elections 2018: All You Need to Know

The Pakistan U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN) general elections are back! The elections that decide the leadership of all 13 chapters of PUAN and the National Executive Committee (NEC) will take place from December 3, 2018 (09:00 a.m.) to December 6, 2018 (11:59 p.m.).

Here is everything you need to know about the PUAN, NEC and the upcoming elections.

What is the Pakistan U.S. Alumni Network?

PUAN is an alumni network jointly administered by the U.S. Embassy and the Consulates in Pakistan and the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP). The network is one of the largest and most active U.S. Government (USG) exchange alumni networks in the world, with more than 25,000 Pakistanis who have participated in the USG sponsored cultural, professional educational exchange programs and intensive domestic educational programs.

PUAN consists of 13 local alumni chapters including Lahore, Bahawalpur, Multan, Quetta, Gawadar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Karachi, Sukkar, Jamshoro, Islamabad-Rawalpindi, Azad Jammu Kashmir, Gilgit, and Baltistan. Each local chapter is led by President, Vice President, Youth Group Director and Exchange Ambassador.

The alumni who have successfully completed their USG exchange program and have registered themselves with the PUAN database will be eligible to contest and vote in the elections. If you have not registered yourself yet, register here before November 28, 2018.

The National Executive Council consists of 52 members, elected from all 13 chapters for the term of two years. Each chapter is represented by four members i.e. President, Vice President, Youth Group Director and Exchange Ambassador. The members of NEC then elect the Country President, through a majority vote.
