A man can achieve anything he wants if he puts his heart and mind into it, believes our inspiring alumnus Iqbal Nasir Khan who hails from the beautiful and mesmerizing Gilgit-Baltistan. Growing up in mountains, his dreams were always high since childhood. He always wanted to be creative and explore the world around himself. Nasir Khan started his educational journey seventeen years ago from a small Yasin Valley in Ghizer District of Gilgit-Baltistan. “I grew up in the mountains of Gilgit Baltistan, having dreams even higher than the famous peaks of Karakorum,” says Iqbal Nasir Khan. He always pursued his educational journey with hard work and dedication because he strongly believes that no amount of talent can supersede hard work.
If you have natural ability, don’t expect it to automatically generate success. However, there was still something missing. As much as he was making progress, he knew that he had the power within himself to create so much more. Beautiful things happen to each of us every day. While Iqbal was doing his BBA at Karakorum International University Gilgit back in 2016 to 2020, he came to know about Global UGRAD Exchange Program. He applied and was selected by the U.S. State Department to participate in this exchange program for Fall 2018. For mid-summers and early winters, he was placed at State University of New York (SUNY) Plattsburg as an exchange student as well as ‘Cultural Ambassador’. The holistic development-oriented environment of SUNY polished his notions of networking, leadership, contribution, and dreams. This experience greatly expanded his thinking and opened his eyes on the importance of leadership in today’s organizations. “New York and U.S. will always have special part in my life’s story till the last breath,” says Iqbal.Currently, he is pursuing his MBA in Pakistan and along with that he works in a well reputed NGO. “All that I have learnt from people of the Great States always pushes me ahead in each step of my life and I always feel the difference of diversified learning,” says Iqbal. The exchange program experience provided him self-development and awareness leading to enhanced self-confidence and self-esteem.
“On 75th anniversary of bilateral ties between both the nations, I would like to mention that we love you States, and we would love to host your people here in Pakistan. I wish may we all live a life of freedom, equality, quality, acceptance, and contribution,” says Iqbal.
Iqbal Nasir Khan is highly grateful to the U.S. Mission in Pakistan for providing him this life-changing opportunity of exchange program and becoming alumnus of the world’s largest alumni network (PUAN).
