On April 20, alumni from PUAN’s Lahore Chapter organized an educational and service visit to the Lahore Zoo, where alumni planted trees, fed the animals and were briefed on zoo activities.
The Lahore Zoo was established in 1872, and is one of the largest zoos in South Asia. Today, it houses around 1,380 animals with 136 species. Zoo experts briefed participants about animal rights.
The event kicked-off U.S. Consulate General Lahore’s “Earth Day” celebrations and helped create awareness of the importance of conservation and ecological diversity for global preservation.
On April 22, alumni from the Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network’s (PUAN) KP Chapter celebrated Earth Day at the Institute of Management Sciences. Alumni and students from many different schools were invited. Alumni made speeches about environmental awareness and students made drawings highlighting the need to keep the environment clean.
Alumni also gathered at the Lincoln Corner and watched the documentary “The Inconvenient Truth: A Global Warning” with students of environment studies and biotechnology from the University of Peshawar.
