Zainab Ismail is our alumna of the Teaching Excellence and Achievement (TEA) Program for Pakistan. In 2003, she completed a six-week professional development course under this program at the University of Northern Colorado, U.S. She has been working as a secondary school teacher since 2003. She completed her Masters in Chemistry and English Language and M.Phil. in Education. Zainab’s Project titled “Activity-based teaching methodologies to enhance vocabularies and grammar, reading and writing, and speaking” was selected for a TEA Pakistan small grant in 2015, 2016, and 2017. Through this program, she was able to train 150 government schools’ English language teachers in her community.
Zainab has completed four American English-E-Teacher Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). She has been mentoring her students in different extra-curricular activities and has been conducting different awareness and educational workshops and seminars. Zainab has also written study books of Science, Chemistry, and English for grades 8th, 9th, and 10th. She also got the best teacher award from Hazara Education Foundation in 2011, and the workaholic teacher award from Hurmat e Niswa Welfare Society in 2019. Because of her services in the education department and for her community, the Government of Balochistan awarded her the Balochistan Excellence Award on March 23, 2022. Zainab is also an executive board member of the PUAN Quetta Chapter.
