On June 16, 2023, the PUAN Punjab Environment and Energy Interest Group held a meeting at the PC Hotel in Lahore. The meeting was attended by Mr. Karl Rogers, the Public Affairs Officer (PAO) for the United States Embassy in Pakistan, as well as a number of experts on climate change and the environment.
The group discussed the many challenges that Pakistan faces as a result of climate change. These challenges include rising temperatures, more extreme weather events, and declining water resources. The group also discussed the government’s efforts to address climate change, such as its plans to promote renewable energy and improve water management.
The meeting concluded with a discussion of how PUAN alumni can contribute to the fight against climate change. Some of the ideas that were floated included:
- Volunteering with local environmental organizations
- Advocating for climate-friendly policies
- Educating others about the importance of climate action
The group agreed that PUAN alumni have a unique opportunity to make a difference in the fight against climate change. They are well-educated and have a strong network of contacts, which they can use to raise awareness and promote action.
The meeting was a valuable opportunity for PUAN alumni to learn more about climate change and to discuss ways to contribute to the fight against it. The group is committed to working together to make a difference in their communities and in Pakistan as a whole.
