From the beautiful city of mountains and scenic beauty Muzaffarabad, Tanveer Ahmed, an English Works 2019 alumnus, led a development project with mission to transform lives through language. Through the Alumni Small Grant (ASG) program, he initiated the remarkable project “English Enhancement Program”. The project aimed to improve the English language skills of the youth in Muzaffarabad.
The project was implemented over an 8-week period. It started with the registration of students, followed by an opening ceremony. The main part of the project was the 26 informative sessions on English language skills, including reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The project concluded with a closing ceremony.
A professional teacher and English Language Instructor, Tanveer’s passion for education drove him to address a pressing need: providing quality English education to the underprivileged. With a team of four dedicated individuals, he set out to make a difference in the lives of 30 direct beneficiaries and impact 200 indirect ones.
As the project unfolded over 8 weeks, the significance of Tanveer’s efforts became evident. His deep commitment to education resonated with his participants, leaving an indelible mark on their English language skills and self-confidence.
The project’s primary purpose was clear: to enhance English language skills among aspiring learners in Muzaffarabad. Through informative sessions, registration processes, and engaging modules on reading, writing, listening, and speaking, the objectives were resoundingly achieved.
Tanveer’s rationale for this project was rooted in his belief in equitable education. As a seasoned educator, he understood the challenges faced by those who couldn’t afford formal English education. The project was a beacon of opportunity for them, providing the means to break language barriers.
The outcomes were inspiring. The project not only empowered participants with language skills but also equipped them with technical proficiency for virtual learning. The project achieved more than just linguistic enhancement; it fostered confidence and self-assuredness, qualities that would undoubtedly shape their future.
Waleed Bin Rafeeq Butt, a 20-year-old participant, expressed how the program bolstered his confidence, while Nusrat Bano, 24 years old, echoed the sentiment of transformation.
Collaborating with the U.S. Mission and the Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN) brought its challenges, but Tanveer’s dedication and the unwavering support of PUAN dignitaries propelled the project forward. The synergy between U.S. Mission and PUAN played a pivotal role in realizing the vision of quality education for the deserving.
The project left its digital footprint through social media links, a testament to the impact created. The project’s activities, including registration, sessions, and a closing ceremony with Public Diplomacy Officer Mr. Paul Giblin as chief guest, unfolded seamlessly.
The goals of the PUAN Charter were met with finesse. English Enhancement Program not only empowered students but also highlighted the collaborative efforts of U.S. Mission Pakistan and the Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network in driving positive change.
Challenges, such as familiarizing students with virtual learning, were addressed through additional training sessions. Tanveer’s proactive approach ensured that technological barriers were overcome.
Tanveer’s commitment to education doesn’t end here. His organization plans to continue similar projects, illuminating the path for deprived youth in Muzaffarabad.
The English Enhancement Program was more than a project; it was a testament to Tanveer Ahmed’s dedication, the power of education, and the transformative potential of collaborative efforts. Through language, confidence, and innovation, Tanveer’s project enriched lives and set the stage for a brighter future for all involved.
