Aiman Saeed & Sehrish Fatima, TechCamp South Asia 2018 & Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN) alumni, organized a series of TechCamps in Islamabad, Sargodha, and Gilgit. Powered by the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Embassy in Pakistan, the main purpose of the TechCamps was to empower women business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs on digital, technology, business and soft skills which are essential to upscale their business ventures or grow in their professional careers. During the workshop, more than 100 women were trained in Design Thinking, Digital Marketing & Branding, Google Tools for Business, Entrepreneurial Mindset, Building Strong Networks and Partnerships and Google #IamRemarkable Workshop.
As part of the TechCamp in Islamabad, Aiman – a Google Women’s Techmakers Ambassador – also conducted an #IamRemarkable Workshop, in collaboration with PUAN. #IamRemarkable is a Google initiative empowering women and underrepresented groups to celebrate their achievements in the workplace and beyond. The workshop highlights the importance of self-promotion in the participants’ careers and equips them with the tools and techniques to promote their brands.
The TechCamp in Gilgit was conducted on September 7-8, 2019 where more than 40 women business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs of Gilgit city and nearby districts Ghizar, Danyor, Oshikhandaas and Sultanabad attended the session. TechCamp in Gilgit was supported by U.S. Embassy in Pakistan, Lincoln Corner, Economic Transformation Initiative Gilgit Baltistan (ETIGB), Pakistan Innovation Summit for Education, TechScape and PUAN Gilgit-Baltistan Chapter alumni. The final day of the TechCamp was graced by Ms. Sosan Aziz, Gender and Poverty Manager at ETIGB, and Deputy Commissioner GB, Mr. Naveed Ahmed.
All the training sessions were widely appreciated by everyone and the participants expressed their eagerness to learn more about digital and tech skills in the future.
