Dec 05: Last Date to Submit Nominations for PUAN Chapters Leadership Positions

Hurry up for sending your nominations for PUAN General Elections 2020! We, at PUAN, are looking for nominations from Alumni Community to contest elections for leadership positions in each Chapter for the period January 13, 2020 – October 31, 2022. 

Leadership Volunteer Positions in each chapter 

President 

Eligibility: All candidates for Chapter President shall be at least at 25 years of age and be an active member of PUAN for at least five years before the election 

Vice President 

Eligibility: All candidates for Vice President shall be an active member of PUAN for at least three years before the election 

Youth Group Director 

Eligibility: All candidates for Youth Group Director should have experience conducting youth-related activities before the election 

Exchange Ambassador 

 Please note that all candidates for ‘Chapter Elections’ shall reside within the bounds of the concerned Chapter and have the expectation of continuing to reside there for two years.

Your Nominations Package should include these:  

  • One-page profile/CV of candidate. 
  • A picture of you. 
  • One-page summary of candidate’s community service activities since completion of his/her U.S.-funded exchange or in-country program. 
  • One-page personal statement that includes the candidate’s vision and plans for leading the PUAN Chapter. 
  • Copy of your CNIC 
  • Your PUAN membership ID. 

If you are not registered, then register first at https://pakusalumninetwork.org/alumniregistration and add membership ID in your nomination package. 

Signed consent by contester in PDF/Word document with below text. 

 “I have read and understood and will act in compliance of all the rules/regulations of elections and below PUAN code of conduct and if I violate, “Election Committee” will have right/power to conduct hearing and to take an appropriate action if needed. I will abide by ruling of PUAN Elections Committee. This consent form is not valid for local courts or any legal proceeding. 
Code of Conduct Policy (PUAN Constitution)
i. Failure to comply with the requirements of this constitution; misconduct that negatively impacts the interests of the U.S. Mission and PUAN; failure to comply with financial reporting requirements for funds from PUAN; using one’s position in PUAN for personal gain; and abuse or harassment of any kind of other members of the network is strictly prohibited and grounds for cancellation of PUAN membership.
ii. Alleged violations of the above-mentioned conduct violations by chapter members will be reviewed by representatives of the U.S. Mission in coordination with the executive board. The Chapter Executive Board shall make a recommendation for the U.S. Mission regarding any punishment for violations, including warnings, suspension from for a period not to exceed 6 months, to revocation of membership in the Network. The U.S. Mission shall be responsible for the final decision regarding punishments for the above-mentioned violations. Failure to comply with financial reporting requirements for chapter activities and small grants shall automatically bar the member from applying for additional Network funding and upcoming elections. The U.S. Mission will notify the NEC of any conduct decisions regarding executive board members.”

PUAN General Elections Timelines: Nov. 05 – January 13, 2020 

  • PUAN Voters’ Registration Drive: November 05 – December 31, 2020 (No new membership or registration will be processed, accepted and approved during January 01-13, 2021) 
  • Formation of PUAN Election Committees in all Chapters: November 05 – 20, 2020 
  • Nominations for all Chapter Leadership Positions: November 21- December 5, 2020 
  • Deadline for Nomination Submission to Respective Chapter’s PUAN Election Committee: December 05, 2020 
  • Final Eligible Candidates List Screening by PUAN Election Committees: December 06 – 15, 2020 
  • List of Final Eligible Candidates to be Announced: December 16, 2020 
  • Online Voting via PUAN Website: January 11th, 2021 (09:00 AM) to January 12th, 2021 (4:00 PM) 
  • Election Results’ Announcement via PUAN website: Wednesday, January 13, 2021 (PM) 
  • PUAN NEC Leadership Term: January 13, 2021 – October 31, 2022

Deadline for Nominations
Send your nominations by December 05, 2020 to your regional PUAN Election Committee POC.  After the deadline, the election committee shall not receive any nominations against any position.

For PUAN Regional Chapters: ISB-RWP, KP, Gilgit, Baltistan, AJK South (Mirpur Division) and AJK North (Muzaffarabad & Poonch Division): Election Committee consists of PUAN alumni members, Dr. Afshan Huma, Fatima Bano, Rida Fatima and Kashmala Wazir along with U.S. Mission and USEFP-PUAN Team members, Usman Siddique, Waqar Ahmad Khan, Rukhsana and Shahid Waseem. Election Committee POC is Rukhsana and send all nominations and queries to her at rukhsana@usefp.org before given deadline by December 05, 2020.

For PUAN Regional Chapters: Quetta, Gwadar, Jamshoro, Sukkur and Karachi: Election Committee consists of PUAN alumni members, Barrister Shahida Jamil, Huma Fauladi along with U.S. Mission and USEFP-PUAN Team members John Rhatigan – Cultural Affairs Officer, U.S. Consulate General, Karachi, Hamza Lakhani, Shahid Waseem, Samana Qaseem. Election Committee POC is Samana and send all nominations and queries to her at samana@usefp.org before given deadline by December 05, 2020.
