Hina is currently attending Berkeley High School in California, where she has taken a special interest in climate change issues. After Pakistan was beset by flooding last fall, she became interested in learning the science behind flooding and what can be done to address it and mitigate its effects. Hina is determined to work on climate change related projects when she returns to Pakistan.
The Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program, funded by the U.S. Department of State is for high school students from countries with significant Muslim populations. Students live and study for an academic year in the United States.
YES students serve as “youth ambassadors” of their home country, promoting mutual understanding by forming lasting relationships with their host families and communities. If you are interested in becoming a YES participant, please visit: https://www.facebook.com/YouthExchangeAndStudy/
