ASG Imparts Digital Literacy to Youth

Freeha Ihsan is a certified Project Management professional with experience of working with impact-driven organizations for more than 8 years. She is also the recipient Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) 2021 program.  Recently, she has completed a small grant under Alumni Small Grant (ASG) funded by PUAN and U.S. Mission to Pakistan. The title of her initiative was Digital Literacy for Youth to Control the Negative Effect of Social Media.

The grant aimed to provide digital literacy training to the youth specifically focusing on the university students in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Digital literacy training included content and interactive videos along with examples to control the negative effects of social media. This interactive training trained around 800 young students to improve their usage of social media in a more positive way and promote peace in society. A series of workshops were held in this regard.  

Ali, one of the program recipient shared, “I never thought about these negative aspects of social media and this workshop helped me to identify the positive use of social media for networking and building my online profile to advance my career”. Fatima, another trianing beneficiary shared that she learned the process to identify the fake and real news which would be helpful for her to absorb the right information on digital platform.
