Fulbright Alumna Anuje Farhung Shines As Fashion Designer

Anuje Farhung is a Pakistani fashion designer, creator, and educator whose work is currently directed towards material symbiosis and regeneration. As a Fulbright alum, Anuje Farhung has been doing some exciting things at the forefront of Apparel/ Textile design and synthetic biology in Pakistan. It is imperative to create a growth in interdisciplinary learning and women working together for betterment and success. Her two current collaborations completely encourage that manifesto. Her award-winning undergrad work as a print maker used fabrication as an extension of the mind and was displayed in cities all over Pakistan. After teaching at her prestigious alma mater as one of the youngest faculty-she left to do her M.F.A in Fashion Design, from Savannah College of Art & Design, on a Fulbright fellowship. Her work has consistently explored textile manipulation, material construction, contemporary embroidery, and the sculptural quality of traditional cloth. Having apprenticed at Oscar De La Renta, and later creating her own brand, House of Farhung, she saw a need for more sustainable materials and circular processes in the couture industry. This led her to seek alternatives which would stay true to the ancient crafts revered and homed in South Asia. She has been constructing bioplastics, synthetic materials and giving life to three dimensional simulations in her numerous projects.

Keep shine, dear.
