January 18-20, 100 alumni of the Study of the U.S. Institute (SUSI) exchange program gathered in Islamabad for the first-ever alumni reunion. In the opening session, Ambassador Richard Olson met with alumni and encouraged them to work hard to make Pakistan a better place. “Your country needs you. Devote your time and energy to making Pakistan the country you want it to be,” Ambassador Olson said. “We will continue to support you.” Dr. Michael Hannahan, Academic Director of the SUSI for Pakistani Student Leaders at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, also travelled to Pakistan to meet and interact with alumni during the reunion.
Embassy officials encouraged alumni to apply for funding from the Alumni Small Grants program, which awards grants to individuals with promising proposals aimed at improving their communities in Pakistan.
