Almost all 300 alumni of the Global Undergraduate (Global UGrad) exchange program gathered in Islamabad December 7-9, 2012 to reconnect with each other and meet Embassy staff. Participants discussed their U.S. experiences and created ideas for new alumni activities. They learned about the alumni small grants program, the Fulbright Program, and EducationUSA advising services that can help them as they prepare for higher studies.
Many alumni participated from remote areas, including FATA and Balochistan. The Ambassador’s remarks received national television coverage and alumni from KP, FATA, Balochistan, and Punjab gave television interviews about their U.S. experiences. Photos of an alumni-initiated environmental project appeared in a major English-language paper under the headline: “Giving Back to the Community: Creating Awareness about Civic Sense.”
