Alumni from the Islamabad Chapter of the Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network organized a “Planet Heroes” workshop to train local students on environmental awareness and recycling innovations. The one day event gathered 60 participants from 25 schools and universities in Islamabad.
Experts spoke about new recycling techniques, how to transform recycled objects into art, and how anyone can make small changes to promote a clean environment. Participants also brainstormed ways to increase teamwork and recycling cooperation on local university campuses.
“Our mission was to not only raise awareness about climate change in Pakistan, but also to connect young graduates with senior environmental experts to generate innovative ideas to save our planet,” said workshop organizer Sarah Malik, a 2012 alumna of the Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI) exchange program.
Workshop partners included local advocacy organizations such as the School of Leadership (SOL), Revolution Flame, and Ray of Hope.
