Around 9 members of the Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network’s (PUAN) Trafficking in Persons interest group from various chapters of Punjab recently gathered to deliberate on recent developments under this subject matter. The group discussed efforts to tackle trafficking challenges in Pakistan. Mr. Karl Rogers, Public Affairs Officer at U.S. Consulate General Lahore , welcomed the participants and acknowledged their collaborative efforts in leveraging their expertise to combat trafficking. Representatives from various sectors including law, NGO, government, education and activists shared their insights that how this issue has been resolved in their respective domains. The participants also reiterated that efforts to combat human trafficking include prevention, prosecution of traffickers, protection of victims, and partnerships between governments, NGOs, and international organizations. The members also noted that the public awareness and education are vital components in the fight against human trafficking.
