Eighty alumni of the U.S. State Department-funded U.S.-Pakistan Professional Partnership in Journalism (PPJ) gathered in Islamabad for a media summit January 31-February 6. Participants shared their experiences and developed further their professional skills. The Ambassador kicked off the Embassy-funded summit with remarks praising journalists for their role in advancing Pakistan’s democracy. Trainers from the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), which administers PPJ, led workshops and panel discussions on conflict-sensitive reporting, ethics, and social media. A core group of 13 alumni attended a three-day workshop to become media trainers in their local communities. Throughout the summit, Pakistani journalists were enthusiastic about their U.S. experiences.
