More than 200 female undergraduates of a public college in Skardu attended an awareness-raising seminar June 6 to commemorate World Environment Day. The Gilgit-Baltistan Chapter of the Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN) organized the seminar. Students presented art work to highlight environmental-friendly practices. IVLP alumnus and Skardu Press Club President Nisar Abbas shared his experiences in the United States and his efforts since returning to Pakistan to strengthen journalists’ ability to cover ecological issues that affect communities in this mountainous region.
